Intuition Vs Wisdom

Personally speaking, I have learnt not to trust my intuition from experience – because gut feelings are often just irrational feelings not aligned to reality. Knowing this keeps me more open than conclusive when uncertain, less judgmental, more open to learning. If our intuition is so accurate, we would long be enlightened already.

It is best to operate with wisdom instead of intuition since the latter might not always be accurate. But in cases where we have to make a decision but lack wisdom to decide with certainty, we would have to use intuition, as there is no other choice (e.g. when even wise friends not being around for advice).

But still, in order to have more accurate intuition, we need to acquire more wisdom in everyday life. That’s why wisdom is still the main means for decision-making. Even intuition is based on it to some extent. And yes, meditation helps to train the mind to be calm and clear for deeper wisdom.

  1. Happened upon this and am going to venture a reply although I noted the date of your post as September 27, 2011! Regardless, I see your points, however, I would like to share that you CAN count on your intuition and you shouldn’t immediately dismiss a feeling because you’re lacking sufficient information. I’ve never had an incorrect “feeling” and yes, meditation will sharpen your ability to pick up your intuition. Wisdom, IMO, is an accumulation of knowledge and experience that shapes your decisions. Wisdom comes from all ages, frankly, and especially children, if we are patient enough to listen. Ciao!

  2. It seems dangerous to suggest all CAN count on their intuition, as since all of us have intuition to some extent, all of us should know by now, on how it can’t always be trusted. Trusting it has led to every successful con job being pulled off.

Wisdom can be in lack at all ages too, especially children, which is why they need to go to school. In short, Intuition is not 100% fail-safe, and wisdom is more trustworthy.
