Wandering Thought #120: Melancholy

To be melancholic for no good reason is to dwell upon small-minded personal issues vaguely, circularly and fruitlessly, when there are larger urgent issues involving many others at hand. Melancholia is the blurred phantom of gloom that haunts in day and night, that haunts only as long as we romanticise it, that should be vanquished immediately by seeing the bigger picture, by realising how much time and life is being wasted with much ado over nothing much at all, by waking up to the truth that it is time to move on with zest, to matters of more meaningful purpose.
