那天法师问我会写大字(书法的一种)吗?我摇头说不会,打字就会。回想还蛮丢脸的。身为华人,基本的文化却不会。没办法,本人受的是西方教育。在60-70年代华校就因政治原因渐渐被淘汰,80年代末就走入历史。英语变主语,母语只能排第二。学校教的是西方书法,西方的绘画。如果要学中华文化,也要看学校有没有提供,有的话也是课外活动。我虽有在中学时学过中华书法,但不知什么原因老师教了一个学期也就不教了。 本地华文素质也在90年代慢慢走下坡。周围的朋友也比较钟意用英语沟通。华文对很多学生来说是个负担,恨不得早点中学毕业不必再接触。毕业后,如果不是主修华文的也真不必再用华文书写。我们这一代很多也演变成会讲但不会是很会读写的一族。 在艺术学院呆了五年,大家也不再用笔书写了,都只靠电脑代劳。曾经被老师推选参加写字比赛的我现在的字惨不忍睹。一直到现在都是和电脑‘相依为命’。我本以为毕业后会把华文知识还给老师。甚至当初接触佛法时都是用英语学的。 看到密密麻麻的华文字也不知为什么就是看不下去。10年没好好接触使用华文,突然间觉得深字特别多。也不知是不是定时念诵《阿弥陀经》和念佛后,华文程度也慢慢转好。虽然有待进步,不过佛菩萨与祖师大德的简写教理还算读得明白。 法师曾经说过,要成功学大乘佛法不能不识华文。但佛法的奥妙也不取决于懂得华文字的多或少。如果没深信或诚心,即使一字不漏地读诵整本经也读不懂其中的含义。当然字懂的多比较占优势。身边就有一群因为莫种原因少年时没学好华文,不过凭着那份深心念佛与不断学习,已对净土法门有着坚定的信心。我也希望不识华文的同修不要因为这缺陷而放弃学佛。念佛简单四字(阿弥陀佛),不是考状元。若信愿行具足,却比考到状元还殊胜无量万万倍。 可以说如果没有大乘佛法,我也不会重新复习华文,重新用我那有限的华文读诵大乘无量的经典。并且也不会对华文字体设计产生兴趣。书法嘛,我不会,但我依然能用科技来显现我对华文文化和大乘佛法的热爱。阿弥陀佛! 真悯 合十
