The foreign man suddenly extended his phone to me,\u00a0instructing me to listen, in a matter of fact way, as he can’t understand the speaker.\u00a0I ignored him for a few moments,\u00a0before taking the phone, though I had absolutely no obligation, to pass the speaker’s message.<\/p>\n

Returning the phone, I told him, ‘Don’t be so rude.’\u00a0No apologies or thanks though – he just grins.\u00a0I added,\u00a0‘Amituofo! I’m a Buddhist too!’\u00a0He was dressed as a monk.<\/p>\n

I dunno if he was a real monk,\u00a0but he was rude.\u00a0Courtesy applies to all, monastics or otherwise.\u00a0If he was a real monk,\u00a0all the more should he be courteous,\u00a0or he shames the robes, misrepresents Buddhism.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
