[174] The egoistic subscribe only to praise,
\nespecially to destructive flattery,
\nthus increasing egoism further.<\/p>\n

The humble subscribe more to blame,
\nespecially to constructive criticism,
\nthus increasing humility further.<\/p>\n

[175] Do not mistaken fear for respect,
\nfor beneath might be resentment.
\nDo not mistaken obedience for compliance,
\nfor beneath might be rebellion.<\/p>\n

[176] If you are not defending
\nthe truth with wisdom,
\nyou are probably betraying
\nyour ego with delusion.<\/p>\n

[177] If you do not learn some now,
\nyou will not know
\nthere is more to learn later.<\/p>\n

If you do not practise some now,
\nyou will not know
\nthere is more to practise later.<\/p>\n

[178] The Dharma is first for upholding,
\nfor self-reflection,
\nbefore holding it up to others
\nfor their reflection.<\/p>\n

\nbut no new truths,
\nother than new truths
\nabout those new words.<\/p>\n
