\nwhich is why we need to extend our compassion.<\/p>\n

\nand devour another animal greedily?<\/p>\n

[225] The Middle Path of destiny is to realise your limitations,
\nbut to realise too, that they can be transcended.<\/p>\n

[226] If all the important information you gather
\nis from a single source that keeps asserting
\nit is the only authentic one,
\nit is time to look around for a second opinion<\/p>\n

[227] Always study the history of the historian
\nbefore studying any history as portrayed by him or her.<\/p>\n

\n

[228] There are only three kinds of authorities –
\nthe totally enlightened,
\nthe only somewhat enlightened
\nand the totally unenlightened.<\/p>\n

Without a Buddha present, the first does not exist.
\nWith only the other two present,
\nthis is why we must always question authority,
\nlest we become blind followers.<\/p>\n

\n

[229] Everything we learn of must be discerned through
\nthe ever-sharpened internal editor of our discriminating wisdom.
\nOtherwise, we are just confounding ourselves with truths,
\nhalf-truths and non-truths.<\/p>\n

\n

[230] An issue being controversial with two sides of the story
\ndoes not mean both must be equally valid.
\nIt could mean that the non-valid side is
\ndangerously close to being seen as valid.<\/p>\n
