In the movie ‘Inglourious Basterds’, Colonel Hans Landa tells Perrier LaPardite the following in an unnerving scene –<\/p>\n

‘I love rumours!
\nFacts can be so misleading,
\nwhere rumours, true or false, are often revealing.’<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That’s an interesting twist, reminding us of how so-called facts might just be blindly accepted rumours. Yet, paradoxically, rumours should not simply be seen as false, since they might turn our true upon further investigation. And whatever accepted as fact or seen as a rumour will always reveal something truthful about the ones involved – their originators, perpetuators and believers.<\/p>\n

Rumours begin when we speculate.
\nRumours end when we investigate.<\/p>\n
