In ‘The Rabbi’s Cat 2’ by Joann Sfar, the cat says this of his master, ‘I love you because you’re vulnerable. I love you because there has to be someone who loves you.’ But does that mean that those who are not vulnerable do not deserve love? If yes, why is there a need to love an ‘almighty God’, not that ‘he’ exists, who is supposedly invulnerable?<\/p>\n

And if there has to be someone to love the vulnerable, why is such a ‘God’ not making ‘his presence’ felt for the most vulnerable, despite their love for ‘him’? Does such a ‘God’ deserve any love? In a godless world, may the vulnerable do their best to love the vulnerable, and may the invulnerable do the same. (The enlightened can only be as almighty in their help as our karma and our openness to the Dharma.<\/span>)<\/p>\n
