In many countries, Groundhog Day is a much celebrated movie that continues to be enthusiastically discussed. The comedy fantasy, starring Bill Murray, opened in theatres to both critical and commercial success. <\/span> Many, especially fellow Buddhists, claim that it\u2019s their favourite movie of all time. It tells the story of a man who unwittingly embarks on a spiritual misadventure as he relives a particular day over and over \u2013 until he gets it right. What\u2019s intriguingly realistic is the portrayal of his natural process of spiritual growth, which we can all relate to. <\/span>It\u2019s a timeless tale about the deeper significance of deja vu experiences, and the infinite chances we get, treasure and squander in our many \u2018rebirths\u2019. Don\u2019t miss this classic (again)! Detailed notes will be shared.<\/p>\n

About the Speaker:<\/strong> Shen Shi\u2019an was one of the founding members of Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery\u2019s Dharma Propagation Division in 1997. Holding an MA in Buddhist Studies, he serves as a Dharma Trainer and Project Coordinator in the Community Development & Training Department, focusing on Buddhist research, writing and teaching.\u00a0He was the founder of the temple’s Youth Mission (now named Youth Ministry), a book purchaser for its Awareness Place project, and the Chief Editor of the Web and Library Department, which co-supported Buddhanet.net<\/a>, one of the world\u2019s most popular Buddhist websites. He is the founder and editor of TheDailyEnlightenment.com<\/a>, one of the world\u2019s largest independent Buddhist inspirational e-newsletter with over 28,000 members, the editor of \u2018Be a Lamp Upon Yourself\u2019, \u2018Awaken: Gateway to Buddhism\u2019 and \u2018The Daily Enlightenment (Book 1,2,3,4)\u2019. He also contributes occasionally to magazines such as \u2018Nanyang Buddhist\u2019, \u2018Awaken\u2019 and \u2018For You (Information)\u2019, and writes Dharma movie reviews for BuddhistChannel.tv<\/a>, the world\u2019s leading Buddhist news network. He also popularised Dharma@Cinema, which is an innovative way of sharing the Dharma through detailed reviews and discussions of both popular and offbeat films.\u00a0Specialising in the Pure Land teachings, he has taught the subject at Singapore Buddhist Federation, Pu Ji Si Buddhist Research Centre and Poh Ming Tse, while leading a weekly Pure Land Practice Fellowship at Phor Kark See.\u00a0He is also used to conducting Dharma discussions for youths at tertiary institutions\u2019 Buddhist societies on various subjects. He has represented Buddhist perspectives in NACLI, NHB, NHG, SAF, SPF, ACM \u00a0and STB events and is a member of the Inter-Religious Organisation, through which he participates in interfaith harmony projects.
