In the movie ‘Confessions’, a mother meticulously plots to exact vengeance on the two killers of her daughter. It is surely psychologically sick for the killers to kill an innocent child. But is it also sick to not seek some form of justice, should the guilty ones escape lawful correction? But to do so would require the vengeful one to become sick in the mind too? So it seems to suggest in the film. Should one just let it go, to make peace within oneself? But to passively let things be would be the condoning of evil, that might multiply to harm more.<\/p>\n

I believe it is possible to do what is right to awaken the conscience for genuine repentance in the guilty. Don’t ask me how to do so in the context of the story. This would require a plot more skilful, more compassionate and wise, than one that simply demands prolonged or ‘endless’ suffering of the guilty. Bitter revenge is already sick because it dishes out suffering with some glee, but it is also sick as its fruits have a horrible aftertaste more bitter than sweet… as one becomes racked with guilt too.<\/p>\n

The weak seek to wreck suffering on the evil.
\nThe strong seek to awaken conscience in the evil.<\/p>\n
