The Faceless Force of Karma

In the ‘Final Destination’ thrillogy (pun intended), you see ‘creative’ ways through which death creeps up gradually yet surely upon its victims. Each of the movies are about how a group of youngsters have some vision of their impending deaths, who thereafter try to evade it, though few (if any) are really successful. Hey, death is eventual, unless you realise liberation from the cyclic life and death in time.

Death is portrayed as a faceless and disembodied cunning force, that is opportunistic and sneaky, operating via convoluted chains or even webs of physical and psychological cause and effect, with one minor event leading to another, before culminating into unexpected and violent sudden death.

These processes that lead to death might seem mystical or sheer superstitious to believe in, but if you are to reflect carefully, it’s really how death happens, via causality both material and karmic. Yes, our karma is expressed via material forces too. Just as karmic rebounds find their way to the creator of karma somehow (unless redirected in time by creation of fresh opposite karma), the occurrence of death is also karmically intertwined. There is no pure accident. Take heart though, our real final destination to reach is not mere death, but the deathless.
