Caring for Beyond Seven Generations

We try to make efforts to buy as much eco-friendly products as possible, even though the costs of some are steep (due to being lower on demand and the higher cost in mindful production). Recently, we came across ‘Seventh Generations’ products in our neighbourhood supermart (Fairprice). We were pleasantly surprised that Fairprice would bring in such ‘high-end’ eco-products. A pack of 12 toilet rolls, which are 100% recycled, hypo-allergenic, unscented, undyed and whitened without chlorine bleach easily cost SGD$30ish. Being a big fan of 7G, I wanted to show my support. We were quite lucky that the mart was having an offer. Though being SGD$20ish was still out of our normal league, we decided to give the brand a try. Well, at least once. Together with 7G’s blue eucalyptus and lavendar detergent, we went home feeling happy despite having spent $50ish on only two items.

Why is 7G worth every cent of your money? It is a complete line of non-toxic household products. ‘Seventh Generation brand-name products include non-chlorine bleached, 100% recycled paper towels, bathroom and facial tissues, and napkins; non-toxic, phosphate-free cleaning, dish and laundry products; plastic trash bags made from recycled plastic; chlorine-free baby diapers, training pants, and baby wipes; and chlorine-free feminine care products, including organic cotton tampons.’

It has a donations program too. They dedicate 10% of their profits to non-profit communities – environmental, health, and responsible business organizations working for positive change. 7G isn’t just another company. They create household and personal care products that are healthy and safe for the air, surfaces, fabrics, pets, and people within your home.

The 7G name comes from the Great Law of the Iroquois Confederacy: “In our every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations.” Our take is simple. As long as it’s environmental friendly, we will give our utmost support. No amount of money can buy anyone another Mother Earth, so don’t save on essentials that would ‘save’ the environment. Please support these products so that the supermarts will continue carrying them – for the planet. (Cheaper eco-friendly cleaning products you can find at Fairprice include Australia’s ‘Earth’s Choice’.)
