For Their Own Reasons

A student asked a Vegetarian Society friend, ‘If animals are not here to be eaten, what are they here for?’ I replied, ‘Maybe you could reply with a reflective question – “If you are not here to be eaten by man-eating tigers, what are you here for? As Alice Walker put it,

The animals of the world exist for their own reasons.
They were not made for humans any more than
black people were made for white,
or women created for men.'”

On the video above… The relentlessness of the monkey’s naughty antics in taunting the tigers reminds me of how relentlessly naughty humans are in irritating, torturing and killing animals!

  1. Animals are sentient beings …

In Buddhism context: Animals are sentient beings …so are Human … and yet sentient beings (human) are eating sentient beings (animals) … OMG …

What will happen when sentient beings (animals) are eating sentient beings (human)? Not Fair! Or Fair isn’t it?

Why when undesirable things or treatment happened to us, we can’t take it? We curse and swear and want revenge (most likely), this natural behaviour is not only exist in sentient beings (human), sentient beings (animals) too will have it. We can refuse to acknowledge this, but that does not mean “revenge” from sentient beings (animals) will not happened.

Would Buddha shake head at this situation?
