Thank You for Everything

A Tit for a Tat (38)

Tit: I really wish to thank you – for everything.
Tat: Thank your karma, not me!
Tit: You know what I mean – I really wish to thank you.
Tat: I know what you mean – but thank the Dharma, not me!

Above is Faye Wong’s abbreviated but heartfelt rendition of Sinead O’Conner’s ‘Thank You for Hearing Me’. I think the last lines (below) are the most beautiful, because they sing of utmost gratitude – even for an utmost heartbreak. This is indeed a song of thanks, of treasuring all the ups and downs of love, of its processes and changes, and even its ‘end’.

Thank you for hearing me…
Thank you for loving me…
Thank you for seeing me…
And for not leaving me…
Thank you for staying with me…
Thanks for not hurting me…
You are gentle with me…
Thanks for silence with me…

Thank you for holding me
And saying ‘I could be’
Thank you for saying ‘Baby’
Thank you for holding me
Thank you for helping me…
Thank you, thank you for helping me

Thank you for breaking my heart
Thank you for tearing me apart
Now I’ve a strong, strong heart
Thank you for breaking my heart
