Big Changes Start Small

From http://www.todayonline.com/Voices/EDC091123-0000166/Online-Only—Change-the-world-one-meal-at-a-time :

I refer to Go meatless one day a week (TODAYonline, Nov 22). It might seem that refraining from meaty meals as individuals would not make much of a difference in lessening some 18 per cent of greenhouse emissions contributed by the meat industry. However, as the renowned anthropologist Margaret Mead said,

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful,
committed citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

Vegetarianism (and veganism) has always been a revolution of kindness in the making. What’s more is that there are already millions of vegetarians in the world, and the number is set to grow – due to greater consciousness of the power that our diets has over the lives and deaths of many, both human and animal. With all sincerity, may this letter further raise the awareness of this power we wield. Every meal we take can indeed be a vote for a better world.
