Free your secret and become who you are.
– PostSecret tagline
Sometimes when we think we are keeping a secret,
that secret is actually keeping us.– Frank Warren (PostSecret founder)
The truth will set you free. Who do you become when you are free from your secrets? Someone one with truth. Someone free. I think I figured out what’s so fascinating and liberating about sending and reading PostSecrets. It’s always intriguing to know what secrets others have, especially while there is the possibility that someone’s secret is for you, or that you can relate to someone’s secret, as if it is yours too.
It’s liberating because submitting a PostSecret and seeing it published online or in a book is a form of public confession of one’s regrets… which helps to resolve it to some extent. It is also a safe kind of repentance, though it might not be sincere enough as one’s identity is kept secret. But deliberate clues can be left too. Why not say sorry in person to the person you are sorry to? But really, there so many kinds of secrets that these thoughts only describe some of them. PostSecret is a simple concept with profound effects indeed!
Since the slightest regret binds us to Samsara,
spiritual cultivation is the process of resolving regrets.– Stonepeace
