What Was the Bus?

A Tit for a Tat (202)

Tit: A bus just went by.
Tat: Don’t tell me what it was!
Tit: Seems like you’re afraid of the truth!
Tat: Well, some truths I don’t need to know!
Tit: Since the truth is what it is, might as well learn to accept it!
Tat: But accepting this truth isn’t helpful to me!
Tit: Learning to see things as they are can help you to be braver in accepting what you cannot change!

  1. That’s why the truth hurts. If it doesn’t hurt, it ain’t naked enuff and cannot be considered a naked truth. Truth can be packaged until it ain’t true anymore. But sweet nothings work better because not many earthlings like to be hurt by the truth. So sugar coasted truths works best. How true should truth be before it is completely true? How complete should truth be before it is truly complete?

  2. Truth is most beautiful when naked. But still earthlings love to COVER it because they fear shame, punishment and embarrassment from it.

  3. The more one covers a truth. The uglier it becomes. Buddhism teaches us to face the truth especially through facing ourselves. The truth lies within all of us. If truth does not reside within us, no matter how much truths there are out there, we will not comprehend. How do you know that you know unless you already know it just that it is locked inside the complex consciousness of our mind through aeons of rebirths that we have forgotten about it.

  4. Some truths don’t hurt, and are not ugly. For example, the Third Noble Truth, that Nirvana is freedom from all suffering is pure bliss! Some truths hurt only when we cling to delusion.

The ultimate truth can be led to skilfully using appropriate conventional truths.

  5. Well said. But the First Noble Truth continues to be “Life is Suffering” or “Life is filled with Suffering” without which the desire for bliss need not arise. Life continues to be filled with suffering in other forms even though it is now more well packaged but the age of internet has indeed revealed more truths more than it has ever been before. Therefore, to be completely free, we have to free ourselves completely.
