Really Never Worth It

Those who hold their liquor well
think they are always in control
but all it takes is a moment of lapse
in alcohol-induced mindfulness
to break the other precepts.

(E.g. drunk-driving and killing someone on the road,
followed by lying to cover up…)
Is it a risk worth taking?
Never.
Really.

  1. It’s not worth it at all. I am a good example. I used to drink and drive. Thinking back now, I am thankful that I did not cause harm to anyone and myself. It is a irresponsible and selfish behaviour. I have quit drinking since 3 years ago and learning about the precepts has helped me to understand my past behaviour. Amitofu.

  2. Death surrounds us all. From the food we eat to that we drink. In the case of liquor, it is indeed a drink that kills others and us as the liver burns and in a state of drunkedness we may also die in an accident. Then this fleeting life of ours will be over. Humans feed on momentary pleasures. Momentary pleasures feed on us as well as we are it’s sponsors. Liquor is indeed a drink with death.
