Self-Fulfilling Analogies

It is sometimes amusing to see people coming up with analogies to fit their ideas, as if a perfect fit means their ideas are perfectly true? Truths don’t always follow your favourite analogies; your favourite analogies don’t always present truth.

E: On the climb up the mountain [towards the peak which represents ultimate truth],  each climber, or group of climbers, has a different perspective from all the other climbers or groups and may be prepared to go to extreme lengths to affirm that their perspective is correct. It is only at the top of the mountain, where dogma and belief are seen as such, that discussion, which is no longer needed, can take place.

G: Nice analogy – but that is assuming all are going up the same mountain and do reach the same summit. Each might be going up different mountains and to different heights, while there is always a highest mountain somewhere, which some might reach different heights of.
