Very often, struggle as we might to see all sentient beings as equal, we still need to make hard decisions at times when caught in a dilemma? Most of us see lifeforms with bigger forms as more precious. E.g. humans are more precious than birds, who are more precious than the lice. I don’t know if it is too late, but how about scooping to remove the insects elsewhere, dismantling the pipe to rescue the birds? Not easy, but worth it?
