Wish I’d Never Been Born?

Mama, ooh,
I don’t want to die.
I sometimes wish I’d never been born at all.

A student from Project Rebirth: http://thedailyenlightenment.com/2011/12/course-project-rebirth-rediscover-reflect-recharge-round-4 asked ‘How do I reply to my kid who said, “I did not asked to be born!”‘

Here is my extended proposed answer: ‘Myself too didn’t ask to be born. I did want a child but I didn’t specifically ask for “you” to be born either. Apologies, as I didn’t know you didn’t like to be born. But since we are here, let’s do our best to take the opportunity to help each other make our lives meaningful and better! I believe we are not here together by chance, but due to various reasons, and even by choice, directly or indirectly, which we have forgotten. In Buddhism, we call this our collective family karma.’
