He was wondering why it took so long
for the ulcer on his lip to heal,
imagining it to be a huge ulcer,
before discovering that the pain was from two small ulcers.
When it comes to pain, he further wonders,
is it better that it’s focused in one place or separated?
Is it faster to heal two smaller wounds or one big one?
Is a divided hell less hellish?
