Just because some ideas have been written into several books, inspired a few films and songs, marketed to the world, and sold to many does not necessarily mean they carry unquestionable and complete truth. It only means it has been popularised, while truth has never been won by a popularity vote. In fact, realisation of any undiscovered truth is usually first by relatively few at any one point in time.
