Wandering Thought #94: Suicide
For the suicidal, there is the allure of imagined utter nothingness of body and mind in the hereafter, or a fresh restart to it all. Yet, how can the everythingness here and now become nothing at all by ending this life? Of course, this body will be relinquished, but just as our minds have endlessly streamed thoughts and feelings as far back as we can remember and before, how can our minds simply be extinguished? Surely, it will stream on. And for a system ‘reboot’ of this life, how can it be possible be a better one following a destructive self-created ‘crash’? If so, may all have the courage to face the vicissitudes of life now, to outdo them, to make it all worthwhile, to rise stronger, wiser and kinder – first to oneself, before others.
