Imagining that ‘you only live once’ (yolo) makes some sense if you are not absolutely sure if there is any form of afterlife. Yet, life now must still be lived with a sense of every deed and non-deed bearing consequences – since you do not know how long you will live in this life, which clearly has some visible consequences within itself, while the possibility of remaining consequences bearing fruit hereafter still exists. In fact, if you truly believe everything is inconsequential, you will not even subscribe to living a life without consequences now, as doing so would be inconsequential as well.
