Freedom: Wandering Thought #222

Wandering Thought #222: Freedom

In this world, paradoxically, nothing is really free – not even freedom itself. There is a price for having everything. Even if something was not paid for, and taken for granted, such as the clean air we freely breathe and the freedom of expression, there are many conditions upon which such precious freedoms are able to arise for us, while they remain unavailable for many others. When such freedoms are used without gratitude and a responsible sense of consequences, freedom can easily spell the end of freedom, becoming a trap with pain and misery instead. We should use our present personal freedom to guide all to greater spiritual and physical freedom from pain and misery. Otherwise, not only is our freedom useless, it might even be harmful.
