A couple of incidental almost wise dialogues from ‘Horrible Bosses 2’
Cop: You own this establishment?
Nick: This place here? I don’t know. Do you really own anything in this lifetime?
Dale: We’re currently renting.
Kurt: It’s all just material matter. Electrons, protons.
Nick: Yeah, we do. Technically.
To be more accurate, technically, we don’t own anything material permanently; we just ‘rent’.
Dale: (Worriedly) So what did the doctor say? Am I going to die?
Kurt: Yes.
Dale: Yes?
Nick: (Seriously) No.
Kurt: (Gleefully) We’re all gonna die.
Nick: (About accident) It’s been touch-and-go, but you’re gonna be fine.
Isn’t it bizarre how the grave fact that all are going to die somehow makes it more trivial? Unless we have realised the way out of the repetitive problem of death, is it not more sad than funny?
