Stonepeace (431-440)

[431] Good efforts of the individual
must never be belittled as
good efforts of the masses
only arise from many individuals collectively.

[432] Each time you
think a negative thought,
verbalise it, or act upon it,
you further affirm the negativity.
Why not be mindful
of the remedy instead?

[433] Those who do wrong
and get caught
are foolish –
because they assumed
they would never be caught
by others so soon.

Those who do wrong
and never get caught
are also foolish –
because they assume
they will never be caught
by karma later.

[434] Evil ones tend to be shunned,
but who will address their mistakes
if even the good ones turn away?

Unless with knowledge of their limitations,
if even the good stay away,
are they good enough?

[435] Unless you refuse to learn,
even disillusionment
does not really let you down,
for it is the first step
towards awakening to reality.

[436] May all compassionate helping hands
be guided by
all-seeing eyes of wisdom.

[437] Life and hope
thrive in unlikely places,
even the deepest hells.

[438] Although true purity of motivation
is not dependent on external conditions,
it is foolish to create or sustain
tempting conditions that gives rise to or feeds
what turns out to be lack of purity in the first place.

[439] Desecration of the environment
is short-sightedness due to greed,
forgetting that oneself and loved ones,
being part of the environment itself,
need the environment that is destroyed.

[440] Especially if you are reluctant to immediately
disempower a source of suffering in your life,
remember that the only true power it has over you
is the power you continually empower it with.
