Stonepeace (461-470)

[461] If we are somewhat reluctant
to observe even the five precepts,
we are somewhat reluctant
to become better people and
we are somewhat ‘bad’ people.

[462] The immature blame their parents.
for nurturing themselves poorly.

The mature blame their karma,
for shaping themselves poorly.

[463] The Bodhisattva path is
to live meaningfully,
to die meaningfully, and
to be reborn meaningfully –
only to perfect and express
compassion and wisdom.

[464] From fickleness of mind
arises fickleness of word and deed.

From steadfastness of mind
arises steadfastness of word and deed.

[465] Continual presence of apology over the same issue
is continual absence of resolution over the same issue.

[466]The greater the sincerity
to make amends,
the swifter the action.

The lesser the sincerity
to make amends,
the slower the action.

[467] Profuse worded apologies
without necessary remedies
is deceitful hypocrisy.

[468] While we are blown by the winds of our past negative karma now,
those who blow the winds create the winds of their future negative karma later.
We ought to stop creating such negative winds for each other.

[469] Personal will to help more
should not be in lack when
political will to help more
is in lack.

[470] We must not mistaken
mere talk about action
as actual action, just as
we must not mistaken
mere talk about resolution
as actual resolution.
