[491] When we take advantage of one another,
everyone eventually gets disadvantaged.
[492] May we practise diligently
to further purify ourselves,
to further purify Samsara,
and to reach Pure Land,
to further purify ourselves,
to further purify Samsara.
[493] While anniversaries of the enlightened
is cause for great rejoice,
may they also be occasions
for deep reflection on
why we are not enlightened yet.
[494] Why eat someone
when you
can eat something else?
[495] It is definitely immature
to be upset
by the naturally immature.
[496] When rejoicing mindfully,
memories with the beloved deceased
will always be happy.
Why crave for more happy memories
if they cannot be created? Why be sad?
Why not express contentment and dedicate merits?
When reflecting mindfully,
memories with the beloved deceased
might be unhappy.
Why regret not creating happier memories
if they cannot be created? Why be sad?
Why not express repentance and dedicate merits?
[497] Just as it is crucial to us
that no one kills us
to satisfy anyone else,
it is also crucial to animals
that no one kills them
to satisfy anyone else.
[498] Humans do not need
to eat animals to live.
Animals need humans
to not eat them to live.
[499] If your conscience can be sold
for any amount of money,
it means you do not
see morality to be priceless.
[500] Claiming to just be doing one’s job
which pays to act against one’s conscience
is to forget that the primary job
is to follow one’s conscience.
