[611] Nothing and no one lets us down
other than our misplaced perceptions
which give rise to unrealistic expectations.
[612] If you see one
as severely wicked,
it is easy to give rise to anger.
If you see the same person
as severely deluded,
it is easier to give rise to compassion.
[613] Progress is possible only with diligence.
Consistent progress is possible only with consistent diligence.
[614] To only apologise to a divine being
instead of the human being you had wronged is wrong.
[615] If you merely regurgitate what others say,
you have not digested what they said yet,
some of which might be utter nonsense.
[616] Magnanimity is forgiving
even those
who do not forgive you.
Magnanimity is not bearing grudges
even against those
who bear grudges against you.
[617] If you keep talking down from much higher moral ground,
it hardly motivates those far below to move up.
Empathy and inspiration to move to
the highest shore of liberation together is much more skilful.
This is the way of the Bodhisattvas, who teach by example.
[618] If you do not live with regrets,
you will not die with them.
[619] As we cannot become
enlightened immediately
[unless we are on the brink of enlightenment],
we should become
more enlightened gradually,
beginning from now.
[620] We prefer to see people and issues as black or white,
while most things are different mixes of black and white.
