The silent room with still air
was especially scary –
not because of what is in it –
ghosts and such,
but due to absence of sound and motion –
which makes every slight sound and motion
amplified and reverberated, even if from oneself.
This is while in a noisy room with much activity,
even an abnormal sound or sight
is quickly dismissed as just another normal thing.
