Stonepeace (656–665)

[656]

Lawlessness easily begins
when lawmakers who assume
they are above the law become lawbreakers,
who create and change laws for their gain,
taking law into their own hands;
not knowing the true law of karma exists.

[657]

We do not only leave
our legacies behind later.
We are living and leaving
our legacies right now.

[658]

Never live for nothing.
Never suffer for nothing.
Never enjoy for nothing.
Never die for nothing.

[659]

The more time spent
on mere talking,
the less time spent
on more doing.

[660]

If one mistakes much thinking
and much talking
as already doing much,
much will never get done.

[661]

There are no strange ones;
just misunderstood ones.

[662]

Better to be a good example
of your one good opinion,
than to give many good opinions
without being a good example.

[663]

Even when others let you down,
never let others down,
as when you let others down,
you let yourself down too.

[664]

To keep harping on one’s past,
even when one had changed,
is to lose track of present reality,
to be trapped in the illusory past.

[665]

If you cannot find a good reason
to do what you wish to do,
it is surely unreasonable to do it.

If you can find a clear purpose
to do what you wish to do,
it is surely purposeful to do it.
