(In)efficiency

(IN)EFFICIENCY: In the rush hour crowd of commuters walking to switch subway lines, the person in front walks unnaturally slowly, holding me up, and in turn, others behind me. S/he is not old or physically challenged; s/he is phone-tapping while semi zombie-walking. Just as I manage to overtake, a few steps ahead, another person walks unnaturally slowly… It is the same scene, to the left, and right… This is the inefficiency of so-called efficiency in communication, when there is so much constant online connection, that there is just as much disconnection from who is behind, in front, to the left and right, in the here and now. Why communicate and walk half-heartedly? Why not do each by itself equally wholeheartedly?
