i totally agree with the quote but wd like to spin off a tot here: Sometimes, i wonder if it’s all in the choice of words, e.g. enough vs complacency? whose call matters?
in today’s rush, i sense much pain in the simultaneous exhortations to “be ready for the competitive future”; to “eat with your family”; to “live today like there’s no tomorrow”; to “seek work-life balance”…
are fellow homo sapiens just making utterances in silos? or do they consider the job done from having utter it?
or once again, it’s that buffet range from which each of us shd just take our pick? but even that’s not easy, for all of them sound so sensible…
But ‘enough’ is enough, while ‘complacency’ is ‘not enough’. When the world speak of being ready for the competitive future, it seems to makes sense, but it might not. One must know what one is competing for and if it’s worth it. If it’s based on greed to have more of what one does not need, it is pointless. It always makes sense to eat with your family… because it’s part of living like there’s no tomorrow… because we might die today… which reminds us again to urgently ask if what we compete for is worth it!
Us humans ought to go beyond uttering aphorisms and live them, or we would be only living a dream. There are many sayings in this word – but not all make real sense. It does makes sense then, that we take our pick mindfully from this buffet! 😉
