Addendum: Though the above was written on something which happened in 2005, the ideas are still valid. It stuck me that speculation is something which keeps enlightenment at bay in many ways. E.g. Most of us assume (aka speculate) we will attain enlightenment in good time, that we are advancing at a reasonable pace, when it isn’t so for most of us, including me. Most of us can simply do much better with greater diligence. Another deep dark secret brought to light!
