I used to take western medicine in general
when I got sick,
before I became vegan.
After I became vegan,
the idea of getting well based on the deaths of others
gives me a sickening feeling… of unwellness.
Nowadays, though I seldom visit doctors,
when I do, I ask for concoctions of traditional chinese medicine
that is vegan in origin.
No animal horns please.
No seahorses.
No worms and such… herbs will do.
You mean that there have to death before western medicine are produced?
Chinese medicine is strongly implicated in the poaching of tigers, rhinos and other endangered species. Check the contents before you buy, being ancient is no guarantee that it is ethical.
Hi John, as above in the article, I tell the doc to leave out all non-vegan ingredients – that’s how one can keep the meds vegan. Where I am, the animal parts are illegal too.
Hi Ling, western meds tend to have continual animal testing for improvement and some have animal ingredients.

This brings to mind cordeceps…. half worm half fungi…
Not sure how they are harvested but if they are bred for hastening their deaths purposely, it is a form of exploitation.
