  1. 众人之力来服众

Karma is cause and effect. If u are part of the cause or the effect, obviously one is not free from karma. Killing is a state of the mind. In one example say one crushes insects while walking without the intention to kill, one cannot be considered committing killing because the mind did not set itself with the intention. In another story where the Buddha, who was a captain at that time actually killed a dangerous man on board a ship that threatens the lives of many which will also cause the assaliant to dive deeper into hell, being motivated by a positive thought, the act was a positive act instead. Paying for food and breaking the precept maybe seen as two categories. If the act involves killing a “live” being, that is a more direct killing to some extent. If paying for food that is already dead, it might just be the same way one finds a dead worm in one’s vegetables. The problem with food these days because they are processed readily is that mankind has become too accustomed to our non vegetarian diet that it somehow becomes 2nd nature. One need not think of killing to eat simply becos it is second nature. If there are any karma to speak off. Apparently the butchers are the ones who front the frontline. It’s typical the moment a living animal dies, naturally one’s consciousness will get even with
the killer at the point of death becos the consciousness is unable to tag to the people in the future who will be linked to eating the meat and may also have to go for rebirth which prevents them from lingering longer. I do not have spiritual eyes but if anyone can verify if the consciousness does follow even those who eat the meat as well then obviously the creditors have the ability to linger and tag to those who eat meat. It is known that eating meat does have it’s effect on the consumers themselves being that the animal that dies secretes certain poison which acculmulates in our bodies and cause us illnesses. Which is why the karma took a longer time to show itself in the face of so many confounding factors and scenarios. It would be good to do a research on butchers and their end of life experiences to understand and prove that Buddhism emphasis on right livelihood is not to be undermined. Butchers do not have good ends and when they re about to die, they will see visions of animals and monsters waiting to take them. If one have solid evidence on these. We can further push the dharma of truth to another higher limit.

Another way to look at this is that anyone may pay for a food but he/she does not limit the choice of food. The people whom he buys food for have the choice to choose vegetarian but if they do not, it’s solely their choice that set the deed in stone and will be bore by those who made the choice. Being a facilitator have it’s karma but maybe lighter. But all in all one may end up being part of a shared karma in other ways. This samsaric world is a world of bad debts that one cannot find the end of it and the beginning of it through so many lives we have lead. That’s why the Buddha told us to end it once and for all with the dharma. Splitting hair over who and who is meaningless. Every sentient beings that feel grievances will seek redress in a never ending cycle in Yama’s court. The only way is to reverse our attitude. To confess. To repent. To uphold vows. To utilize this human form as a vehicle of liberation for others. Last but not least, to regard all sentient beings as our parents no matter how much wrong we have done to others or others have done to us, let’s hop onto the boat of liberation and let wisdom and compassion neutralizes the hatred and bad debts which plagues us since the beginning of time due to our enclosed minds. The moment the heart and mind opens, all entanglement ceases. All in all, I still hear people who are not perfect Buddhists going to amitabha’s pureland so let’s be mindful in our actions but most important of all, the Buddha abandons no one. Even in the depths of hell, he has bodhisattvas there simply becos salvation is not something selective. It is not elitist. It is evolutionary and every sentient being should have a fair chance to evolve and improve.

Tac: Everytime I see tears in the eyes of animals who are going to be butchered, I can’t help thinking that animals are not made to be eaten.
Toe: U are dead right. I just can’t help feeling that the maker was wrong. The Buddha was right especially when I watched the documentary on haunting. In one of the paranormal research in a slaughterhouse and a scientific lab, the occupants actually encountered ghosts of animals which proves animals are the same consciousness like us.
Tic: What nonsense are you babbling? You simply need to change your perspective a little bit and it will look totally different to you.
Tac: How do you do that?
Tic: Well. Those tears are the tears of joy and they are so happy that they will be meeting their maker soon. Are you feeling better already?

  2. On this – ‘If paying for food that is already dead, it might just be the same way one finds a dead worm in one’s vegetables’ – It’s not exactly the same as regular demanders of meat is the reason why there is regular supply of meat via killing. :bloody:

On this – ‘It’s typical the moment a living animal dies, naturally one’s consciousness will get even with
the killer at the point of death becos the consciousness is unable to tag to the people in the future who will be linked to eating the meat and may also have to go for rebirth which prevents them from lingering longer.’ – It’s hard to know for how long animals’ consciousness can linger. If an animal is attached to his own dead body, and does not depart in time, he might even feel the magnified pain of being cut and cooked.

On this (I know it’s a joke!) – ‘Those tears are the tears of joy and they are so happy that they will be meeting their maker soon.’ – If animals are made by a maker for us to eat, they would be ‘designed’ to die happily, and never struggle or scream when about to be murdered.

  3. When compassion can be switched off when we HARDENED our hearts. I believe there’s a book which the word hardened can be found in it and is spiritually important.
