You mentioned in your talk that our world can be a Pureland only when Maitreya Buddha in the future comes down to spread Dharma once again. Could you elaborate more on that? The Pureland you mean, does it mean like Amitabha Buddha’s Pureland? Does it mean that our world would be free from Samsara?
In Mahayana Buddhism, once Maitreya becomes a Buddha, he will rule over the Ketumati Pure Land, an earthly paradise sometimes associated with the Indian city of Varanasi. A Pureland in the sense that beings there can more easily attain enlightenment via training there. However, this is time-limited as the Buddha will enter parinirvana. Another interpretation is that where Maitreya Bodhisattva is now at Tushita heaven’s inner court is like a Pureland. However, it’s important to note these differences in comparison to Amituofo’s Pureland too: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Amituofo/message/114 Amituofo
@purelanderx: Thank you for the link! Helps to clarify a number of doubts. Amituifo 🙂
