Unpriestly Priests

In the movie ‘Priest’, the heroes are the denounced priests who go against the church,
despite the repressive ones in charge continually reminding them of this self-concocted ‘mantra’ –
‘To go against the church is to go against God’.

Yes, as usual, the ones assumed to have the mandate of ‘God’ are the erroneous ones.
Is this just a movie, or does it really reflect reality,
at least to some extent?

It never ceases to amaze me,
how easily some are able to place their trust wholeheartedly
in fallible institutions manned by fallible men.

It also amazes me,
how some really believe(?) they represent a higher authority,
when they should know better their moral integrity is far from ‘godly’.

It comforts me,
that the Buddha never expected blind faith,
not even in him (the Buddha), his teachings (the Dharma) or the the Sangha.
