The Hope Paradox

I notice that the poor in many countries tend to have more kids. Perhaps it is due to lack of education and thus family planning as well. Perhaps it is due to harbouring hopes in the next generation for bettering the family?

If poor now,
children offer more hope for the future?
If poor now,
there is less hope for the children’s future?

Paradox! Dilemma!
