We are the results of the conditions we put together. As long as we create certain conditions, it is certainly some will bear the fruit of the results in large quantities or small quantities, in long term or short term. The Buddha once shared that why are people born beauty and some ugly? One who praises others and are not jealous of the beauty of others are born beautiful. One who are jealous of other beauty will be born ugly. In Buddhism, our current existence is the result of the blueprint we configure in our previous lives.
The following is a personal opinion. From a consciousness point of view, the one who is jealous of other’s beauty actually grows a narrow minded heart and repeatedly reinforced. Assuming our consciousness is a vessel that can grow or shrink and putting such a narrow minded blueprint in our mind, even if I were to pour an ocean of merits to be born as a beauty in my next life, can a small vessel hold an ocean of merits? It is not the merits that is limited but my own mind and heart that limits the unlimited merits.
不是人无福报而是因为我们有限的爱心,智慧与慈悲使我们能容不下更大的福报。一个小杯如何容得下海洋吗?
Anyone who believes in life after death…..if spiritual energies continue to exists, in this life we are all building our spiritual DNA for our next life. Let all who follow the dharma practice and perfect their spiritual dna of the Buddha and may we free all beings from the six realms.
Actually, it’s the other way round – because the mind/heart is narrow/small, one does not create much merits in the first place. It’s not possible for a narrow-minded or small-hearted person to create much merits because to do so requires a broader mind and bigger heart.
