In the days before online schedules were available,
she never knew whether
to walk briskly or casually to the bus-stop
because she never knew
if the bus is already there, almost there, or has just left.
She thought it seemed
like a metaphor for the uncertainty of life –
how its projected schedules are not really fixed.
