Wandering Thought #99: Friendship
Ironically, the ones who assume they know you well are easily those who eventually know you the least. They might have known you for some time, as a family member, friend or colleague, but became complacent with what they think they already know about you, and no longer keep up with your changes. In this way, they fade away to become mere acquaintances. The deeper irony is that while we lament of friends who have become acquaintances, we too make acquaintances of friends, perhaps just as unknowingly. All relationships need maintenance, catching up with, as everyone changes, much more to say, with shifting external conditions and dynamics between one another.
