Wandering Thought #119: Character
Since our true character is what constitutes our true reputation, we should be truly concerned about our character – more so than our reputation. Only then is it likelier that our inner character is aligned with our outer reputation. To do the opposite is to be more concerned with reputation than character, which makes us superficial and insincere – first to ourselves, then to others. And as a false reputation can never keep up perfectly with one’s true character, one with poor character will eventually tarnish even the most glorious of reputations.
