Stonepeace (331-340)

[331] Don’t miss this special
once in all lifetimes’ event –
this moment.

[332] If you only compare yourself
with those doing worse than you,
you are likelier to become arrogant,
and thus cease to improve.

If you only compare yourself
with those doing better than you,
you are likelier to stay humble,
and thus continue to improve.

[333] There is hatred only when
there is clinging to the hater,
the hating and the hated.

There is peace only when
there is letting go of the hater,
the hating and the hated.

[334] True humility arises
not from swallowing one’s pride,
but from realising
there is no reason to be prideful.

[335] If we spend our entire lives
concealing truths for the greater good,
can our entire lives lead to greater good?

[336] Conform only to progress
towards the noblest goals.
Skilfully rebel against all else.

[337] Accept your faults, but accept that
you can rise above them too.
If you do not accept your faults,
how can you rise above them?

[338] How you see is
what you see.

[339] If a goal is unworthy,
even if it is easy to attain,
you should give it up now.

If a goal is worthy,
even if it is difficult to attain,
you should never give it up.

[340] If one is able to observe the precepts
when many are around,
there is no reason to be ‘unable’ to do so
when no one is around.
True moral integrity exists both in public and in private.
