Stonepeace (1001-1010)

[1001]

With the crooked,
even if a deal is made,
expect it to be crooked,
even if it seems not.

[1002]

Of all things that can be done,
never do two things –
give others or yourself suffering.

[1003]

Transform suffering to be
the motivator for Dharma practice;
not the distractor from Dharma practice.

[1004]

One who only finds faults in others
will never have a fruitful relationship with others.
One who only finds faults in oneself
will never have a fruitful relationship with oneself.

One who never sees faults in others
will often be let down by others.
One who never sees faults in oneself
will often be let down by oneself.

[1005]

How can one
who does not want
to be a better person
have a better life?

[1006]

The lack of commitment
to accomplish something worthy
is as if strong commitment
to accomplish nothing worthy.

[1007]

Why should many beings
have lifetimes of suffering
for only one being to have
brief moments of taste?

[1008]

Healthful food is healthy
for BOTH humans and animals,
with no animals eaten by humans,
which is unhealthy for humans and animals.

[1009]

A true spiritual aspiration is
never mere wishful thinking,
as it inspires the will and action
to ensure fruition of that vowed.

[1010]

If killing is a wrong livelihood,
how right can supporting it
by buying killed animals be?
