what she thought
would be the ideal birthday gift,
and wrapped it meticulously.
Yet, she didn’t really give it to him for good,
even though she did pass it physically.
She realised she was clinging to it
as when he didn’t seem to appreciate it,
she almost wanted it back instantly.
