[3] Ten Analects’ Sections

[The following are in no particular order.] 

[21]
子曰:
「德之不修,
学之不讲,
闻义不能徙,
不善不能改,
是吾忧也。」

《论语•述而第七•第三章》

The Master said,
‘With virtues that are not cultivated,
with learning that is not discussed,
with hearing of righteousness not able to change,
and with that not good not able to be corrected,
these are my worries.’

(Analects: 7th Chapter: Shù Ér: 3rd Section)

子夏曰:
「小人之过也必文。」

《论语•子张第十九•第八章》

Zǐ Xià said,
‘The faults of small persons certainly will be glossed over.’

(Analects: 19th Chapter: Zǐ Zhāng: 8th Section)

[23]
子曰:
「不患人之不己知,
患不知人也。」

《论语•学而第一•第十六章》

The Master said,
‘Not afflicted that others are not with oneself known,
be afflicted by not knowing others.’

(Analects: 1st Chapter: Xué Ér: 16th Section)

[24]
子曰:
「君子坦荡荡,
小人长戚戚。」

《论语•述而第七•第三十七章》

The Master said,
‘Noble persons are calm and open,
while small persons are always worrying.’

(Analects: 7th Chapter: Shù Ér: 37th Section)

子曰:
「默而识之,
学而不厌,
诲人不倦,
何有于我哉?」

《论语•述而第七•第二章》

The Master said,
‘With silence then remembering that,
with learning then not tired of that,
with instructing others not weary of that,
which are those in me?’

(Analects: 7th Chapter: Shù Ér: 2nd Section)

子曰:
「志于道,
据于德,
依于仁,
游于艺。」

《论语•述而第七•第六章》

The Master said,
‘Aspire for the path,
accord with virtue,
rely on benevolence,
and enjoy the arts.’

(Analects: 7th Chapter: Shù Ér: 6th Section)
