Machine: Super Short Story (222)

Super Short Story (222): Machine

It’s uncertain if he is just perfunctory in his service,
interested only enough to do his job,
but not exactly well,
with disinterest about everything else.
He seems to be in his own world,
unnaturally slow like a tired machine,
even when handling customers rushing for time.

He doesn’t make eye contact with them,
doesn’t greet or thank,
and doesn’t even apologise for mistakes.
But maybe he is just on medication,
not intentionally the way he is?
But maybe he is just not trying hard enough?
